Use Famoo with your AI assistant
Famoo is in beta. The AI connector is open to the families testing Famoo with us. Things may change as we learn, and we would like to hear what works and what does not.
What it does
The Famoo connector lets an adult in your home ask Claude or ChatGPT about your home's jobs, shopping list, calendar, meals and food cupboards, and make a few changes for you: tick off a job, add to the shopping list, or update what is in the fridge. The assistant acts as you. It can never do more than you can do in Famoo yourself.
The Famoo address
You give your assistant this address when you add Famoo:

Connect Claude
- Sign in to Claude at claude.ai on a plan that allows custom connectors.
- Open Settings, then Connectors.
- Choose Add custom connector.
- Name it Famoo and paste the Famoo address. Choose Add.
- Choose Connect. Famoo opens: sign in with the same Google or Apple account you use for Famoo.
- Read what Claude is asking for, pick the parts of Famoo you are happy to share, and choose Allow.
- Try it: ask Claude "What jobs are left in our home this week?"
Connect ChatGPT
- Sign in to ChatGPT at chatgpt.com on a plan that allows custom connectors.
- Open Settings, then Connectors. Under Advanced, switch on Developer mode.
- Choose Create to add a new connector.
- Name it Famoo, paste the Famoo address, and choose OAuth for sign-in.
- Famoo opens: sign in with the same Google or Apple account you use for Famoo.
- Read what ChatGPT is asking for, pick the parts of Famoo you are happy to share, and choose Allow.
- Try it: ask ChatGPT "What's on our shopping list?"
The names of menus in Claude and ChatGPT change from time to time. If a step does not match what you see, look for "connectors" in your assistant's settings, or email us.
What it can and cannot see
- Adults only. Only an adult can connect an assistant. Children and helpers cannot, and Famoo checks this again every time the assistant asks for anything.
- Only what you allow. You choose which parts of Famoo the assistant may use when you connect it, and you can switch parts off later.
- Only your home. It sees the home you connected, never anyone else's.
- Never your children's private details. The connector does not show children's homework, school reports, photos, dates of birth or anything else private about a child.
- Nothing about payments. It cannot order, pay or change who may see what in your home.
- Every change is yours. A change the assistant makes shows in your home's history under your name, and you can undo it there.
Switch it off at any time
In Famoo, open Settings, then AI connection. You can see each assistant you have connected and when it was last used, switch off parts of Famoo for it, or revoke it. Revoking stops it at once. It cannot undo what the assistant has already read.
What your assistant can do
- List household jobs: your home's jobs, whether they are done, and their points.
- Mark a job done: tick off one of your own jobs.
- List the shopping list: what is on it and what is already bought.
- Add to the shopping list: add one thing, as you.
- Mark a shopping item bought: tick off one thing on the list.
- List calendar events: what is on your home's calendars for the next few days (up to two weeks).
- List the week's meals: what is planned for each day and who is cooking.
- List what's in the fridge, freezer and cupboards.
- Update the fridge, freezer and cupboards: add things, count them, mark them used or thrown away. This can replace a count or take things away, so your assistant should check with you first.
- Undo a stock update: put back an update it made, for a short time after.
Your privacy
When you connect an assistant, the parts of Famoo you allow are sent to that assistant's company (Anthropic for Claude, OpenAI for ChatGPT) when you ask about them. What they do with it is covered by their own privacy terms. Famoo stores nothing new about you for the connector beyond the connection itself and the changes you make.
