How to make kindness coupons with children

A kindness coupon is a homemade voucher for something kind your child can really do, like a game together, a bedtime story or laying the table. They write or draw it, decorate it and give it, and it costs nothing.

A hen hands Ringo the rat a paper card with a heart drawn on it, beside a low table with more picture cards.

What do you need?

How do you do it?

  1. Think of a gift. Choose something kind you can really do: play a game together, read a story or help with a small job.
  2. Check with a grown-up. Agree the idea, and how long it will take, with a grown-up.
  3. Make the coupon. Write or draw what you are offering and who it is for.
  4. Decorate and give. Add a festive border and give the coupon to the person.
  5. Keep the promise. Agree a time to use it, then do it.

Tip

Write a day on the coupon, such as “Saturday morning”. A coupon with a day on it is easier to remember to use.
